In-Kennel Dog Training
On-leash basic program - This program consists of seven days of boarding and daily in-kennel dog training at our facility and a 1½-hour private session with you and your dog together. The curriculum is similar to that offered in the group classes, but the training is much more intensive. During the seven days of in-kennel training, for example, a professional dog trainer will work with your dog for three sessions each day. Also, the in-kennel training provides an opportunity for us to adapt specifically to your unique problems and needs. We use a stair-step approach that brings you and your dog through progressive levels that gradually increase the skills of you both. Your dog learns a new skill in each of the lessons, and we "distraction-proof" each skill using low, medium and high levels of potential distraction before moving on.
During the later lessons we begin to apply what your dog has learned to real-life scenarios so your dog realizes that the rules you have set are consistent and pertain to all situations. We supply an appropriate leash and training collar, if you wish, at an additional cost.
What we teach you includes:
- Reading canine body language
- Communicating commands properly and effectively
We teach your dog:
- To walk on loose leash
- To sit on command
- To sit automatically at your side
- To lie down on command
- To come on command
- To stay when so ordered, in spite of distractions
- To greet people and animals in a well-mannered way
Cost: $475 per week
Prerequisites: Current vaccinations and an evaluation. The cost of the evaluation is $100 and your payment for the consultation fee will be applied to the dog training program you select.
