Your dog is special and showers you with love every day. You want to do the same, especially on Valentine’s Day. To show your love and affection for your furry friend, you want to do something extra special. However, dogs cannot enjoy the same treats as humans. Popular Valentine’s Day gifts such as chocolates, flowers, gift cards, wine and liquors are definitely unsuitable! So if you are looking for a way to give your dog a little extra love this Valentine’s Day, you will need to be creative and think of something else.
Treats for Dogs
Instead of the traditional chocolate treats, you can give your dog a safe, healthy alternative, such as:
- Peanut Butter – Peanut butter is high in protein and nutrients and great for dogs. Try to use peanut butters that are not processed and have low salt contents, preferably organic if you can. Just keep in mind that dogs can be allergic to peanuts just like humans; so you may want to have them tested for allergies first.
- Apples – Apples are great treats for dogs. They love their crunch and juiciness and apples provide your dog with extra boosts of essential vitamins. When giving your dog apples, make sure to remove the skins and core.
- Sweet Potatoes – Sweet potatoes are a great source of carbohydrates. You can peel them and steam them to give to your dog or even dehydrate into chips for a quick snack.
- Popcorn – Snuggle up to a movie with your dog and share a bowl of popcorn. Just make sure it is air-popped without the butter and salt.
Give a Gift
You can give gifts to your dog just like you would a human. Consider buying a new toy for your dog, such as a chew toy, bone or even something they can play with you. If your dog’s bed is old and worn out, why not replace it as a Valentine’s Day gift?
Another great gift idea is giving them a professional grooming session. From a comforting shampoo to having their nails or hair trimmed, grooming leaves your pet feeling fresh and clean. You will enjoy giving them that extra cuddle on Valentine’s Day!
